finance chief to serve as its new chief financial officer.

The pharmaceutical giant said Monday that

Matt Walsh

will take over as CFO later this month after 10 years in the same role at Catalent.

Mr. Walsh, 51 years old, replaces

Tessa Hilado,

who announced her retirement from Allergan in September after three years, during which she helped guide the Dublin-based company through the $40.5 billion sale of its generic business to

Teva Pharmaceuticals
Ltd.

Ms. Hilado planned to stay in the role until a successor was named.

Before joining Catalent, which specializes in drug delivery products, Mr. Walsh had been CFO at auction company Escala Group, now known as

Spectrum Group International
Inc.,

and industrial manufacturer GenTek Inc.

He studied chemical engineering at Cornell University and also received an M.B.A. there.

Mr. Walsh is slated to earn an annual base salary of $800,000, an annual bonus up to $825,000, and stock-based compensation among other incentives.
